Isaac Brock of Modest Mouse Interview
Modest Mouse is the best band in the world. If you don’t believe me, just go get this album andyou too will walk out of your front door and scream to your neighbors, “Modest Mouse is the best band inthe world!”

Usually a band’smajor-label debut is f-ked up somehow, but this new Modest Mouse album (titled The Moon And Antarctica)is so amazing it drives whoever listens to it to sing and scream along with singer Isaac Brock. You willlove this band. Modest Mouse will love you. Here’re some words with Isaac.

Modest Mouse: Running with the Devil
Try to decipher the opening lines of Modest Mouse's "Heart cooks Brain" and you're certain to be left with vivid mental pictures of what a brain looks like lying flaccid on a sesame seed bun. Don't bother asking Modest Mouse's lead vocalist/guitarist Isaac Brock what it means. That's one of the reasons he gave up talking to reporters.
"At one point, I decided never to do interviews because I figured I could talk about music or write it," says a groggy Brock via phone interview. "Reporters are always asking me if I care when I get compared to the Pixies or Built to Spill. What am I supposed to say? 'That fucking pisses me off, man. I hate that shit.'? I don't give a damn. They can compare me to Sade and Prince for all I care."

Modest Mouse is an American rock band. The band was formed in 1993 in Issaquah, Washington, United States by guitarist Isaac Brock, drummer Jeremiah Green and bassist Eric Judy. Since being signed to Sony’s Epic Records in 2000, Modest Mouse has attained significant popular success with songs such as “Float On” and “Dashboard.”
The band’s current configuration is Isaac Brock (vocals, guitar), Tom Peloso (strings, horns, bass, keyboards), Eric Judy (bass), Jeremiah Green (drums) and Joe Plummer (drums). Jim Fairchild has replaced Marr for their 2009 tour while Marr focuses on his other band, The Cribs. Marr is a former member of legendary alternative band The Smiths and Plummer has recently become the new drummer for The Shins.
Brock came up with the name “Modest Mouse” when he read the Virginia Woolf stream of consciousness essay The Mark On the Wall in which the author described the working middle class as “modest mouse-coloured people”
